#1. Make Your Bed the Moment You Get Up

Make your bed the moment you get up. Not only does having a neat bed make it easy to tidy the rest of your bedroom, but also a made up bed makes your bedroom look automatically neater and cleaner.

It only takes a couple of minutes to straighten your bed when you get up in the morning and saves you from making a return trip later in the day.

#2. Have Less Stuff

One of the best ways to keep your home cleaner is simply to have fewer things that can catch dust or serve as a catchall.

Take a minimalist approach and forgo the knick-knacks, and use less furniture. You can save yourself a lot of time by having fewer objects to declutter and to dust.

#3. Use a Door Mat and Take off Shoes at the Door

Another way to make cleaning take less time is to avoid some of the dirt that is dragged into the home on the bottom of the shoes of family members and guests.

The best way to do this is to keep a dirt catching doormat right in front of the door and require everyone to take off their shoes before entering your home.

#4. Wipe Down Your Shower after Each Use

Make cleaning your shower easier by using a towel to wipe your shower curtain dry and then wipe down the walls of your shower.

To make things even easier, keep tub tile cleaner in your bathroom and spray down the walls the minute you finish showering, and then wipe everything down after you dry and put on your robe.

#5. Pick Up Room to Room

Every time you go from one room to another, pick something up that belongs to another room and take it with you, and put it away.

If you do this each time you move through your home, then your home will stay neat and tidy and you won’t have to spend a concentrated time just putting away stray articles.

When you put one thing away in a room, pick something that doesn’t belong in that room and return it to the room it does belong to.

#6. Wear Dust Mop Slippers

Clean your floor every time you walk with a pair of dust mop slippers.

Better yet get one or two pairs of these slippers for every member of the family and your uncarpeted flooring will always look clean and tidy.

You can even pick up more dirt and dust and add a light shine to your floor by spraying a little furniture polish on the bottom of your slippers before wearing them.

#7. Robot Vacuum to the Rescue

You can relax and let a robot vacuum do the vacuuming for you. All you need do is press a button on a remote and watch the robot vacuum do the task. It’s pure magic!

In fact, Robo vacuuming is one of my favorite cleaning hacks for lazy people.

There are different robot vacuums for cleaning different floor types and purposes, including hard floors, medium and high pile carpets as well as pet hair etc.

#8. Step Saving Food Prep

When preparing meals, keep a small plastic bag hooked to one of your cabinet doorways to throw away all your peelings and other garbage.

That way you only have to make one trip to the garbage can when cooking a meal for your family.

It also keeps scraps off the kitchen countertops and keeps your work area clutter free.

#9. Do Some Kitchen Cleaning while Cooking

Since you are in the kitchen cooking anyway, why not use some of that time to do a bit of cleaning in your kitchen.

For example, while waiting for that noodle water to boil you can wipe down the front of your kitchen cupboards.

You should also wipe off spatters and splashes as they occur by keeping a damp sponge with you at all time.

#10. Use Fridge Liner Mats

Fridge liner mats help to make it easy for you to clean your fridge and keep it clean. They help to protect your fridge from food debris and spills.

I really like these fridge liner mats because they are waterproof, oilproof, mildewproof, and easy to clean. When they get dirty, all you need to do is wipe them clean with a kitchen towel or better still wash them because they are washable and dries fast as well.

#11. No Scrub Microwave Cleaning

Cleaning your microwave can be almost as easy as turning on your microwave. Simply take a microwave safe bowl, add 2 cups of water and ½ a cup of vinegar and set it in the center of your microwave and turn on for 3 minutes.

Then just remove the bowl and wipe down the inside of the microwave. The vinegar water steam loosens dirt and stuck on food and splatters in your microwave. It also helps to get rid of microwave odor.

#12. Easier Way to Clean Your Blender

In order to make cleaning a blender easier, the moment you finish using the blender put in some warm water and a squirt of dish soap and then place the lid back on the blender and run it for a short period of time.

In most cases, you will be able to just dump out the soapy water, rinse the blender and it will be clean.

#13. Use Plastic and Foil Liners when Possible

To save washing dishes take the time to use plastic and foil liners whenever possible.

You can line a cake or roasting pan with tinfoil etc. resulting in less cleaning or no cleaning at all.

#14. Use Your Dishwasher for More than Dishes

While your dishwasher does a nice job on cleaning your dishes, it can clean many other things as well such as kitchen sponges, toothbrush holders, toys and silk/artificial flowers. Note that not all silk/artificial flowers can be washed in a dishwasher, so be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions before washing.

This can save you hours of cleaning time and leave everything clean and sanitized.

#15. Assign Cleaning Chores to Other Family Members

If there are several members in your family, then you can assign a cleaning chore (vacuuming, dusting, emptying the dishwasher, folding laundry) to other members of the family.

Not only will your home stay cleaner, but also you won’t have to do these chores yourself, which is great for those of us who hate cleaning our houses.
