Discover the best Benjamin Moore neutral paint colors. From creams and beiges to browns and grays, find the perfect shade for any space.
One of my top travel experiences was a trip to the Masai Mara in Kenya. What amazed me was how close you could get to wild animals yet be unable to see them until the guide pointed them out. Of course, this is the power of camouflage.
But seeing a proud golden lion merge into a beautiful beige and tan background made me appreciate these neutral colors anew.
Benjamin Moore may not have lions, but this luxury paint producer has plenty of gorgeous neutral paint colors.
The best pale Benjamin Moore neutral paint colors are Chantilly Lace, White Dove, and Pale Oak. Grays include Gray Owl, Balboa Mist, Edgecomb Gray, and Revere Pewter, while other lights are Manchester Tan, Philadelphia Cream, and Smoke. Darker neutrals include Hale Navy, North Creek Brown, and Soot.
While we’re not looking to be camouflaged in our homes, we do want to hide the signs of our interiors getting out of date.
Although trends in interiors don’t move as rapidly as those in fast fashion, you can feel left behind if your decor suddenly looks old.
Instead, decorate with timeless neutrals as your base, so you can ring the changes with colorful accents and accessories. Let’s look at the best neutral paint colors offered by Benjamin Moore.
13 Best Neutral Paint Colors from Benjamin Moore
The heroes of classic interior design, neutral colors do require some forethought. Before choosing one of the beautiful colors I’m going to share with you, consider how much natural light your space gets, whether it’s cool or warm-toned, and which accent colors you want to include.
#1. Chantilly Lace OC-65
I’d like to start with one of Benjamin Moore’s most popular neutrals and an absolute classic: Chantilly Lace. Described as the color of fresh cotton and pure silk, this is a balanced white that shines clean and reflects abundant light.
Chantilly Lace works equally well in a traditional or contemporary space and anchors on-trend aesthetics with natural textures, warm neutrals, and plenty of greenery.
#2. White Dove OC-17
Benjamin Moore’s bestselling White Dove is another perfect neutral that marries well with warm and cool color palettes. This neutral won’t shine yellow or pink under natural or artificial light — it’s a steady white, rather than a chameleon shade.
I love this pure white with crisp gray, black, and white, whether in a bold minimalist interior or a Scandi paradise, whether on walls or trim.
#3. Pale Oak OC-20
This gentle off-white was inspired by the bleached-looking wood of the white oak. Pale Oak has warm gray undertones that glimmer as the light changes in a room, rather like a mist lifting off the ocean.
This serene color is perfect as an anchor for an elegant white and silver dining room or a tranquil Boho living room.
#4. Gray Owl OC-52
I love the thought of a bedroom painted in the softest gray of an owl’s feathers — perhaps imbuing me with wisdom during the night.
Gray Owl is a cool, natural gray that works beautifully with other grays and whites, whether in a tranquil bedroom or a farmhouse kitchen with quartz countertops.
#5. Balboa Mist 1549
Balboa Mist is a warm gray neutral, my recommendation for updating a gray interior. This color will welcome biophilic elements to your usual gray look, including wooden floors, natural linen or raw cotton upholstery, and jute rugs.
I love how this color changes slightly as the day passes, leaning slightly taupe at times.
#6. Edgecomb Gray HC-173
With its rich yellow undertone, Edgecomb Gray straddles the line between gray and beige. This warm neutral shines gray in a room filled with natural sunlight, so is ideal for south-facing rooms.
Edgecomb gray leans beige in dimly lit northern exposures, adding a much-needed dose of warmth. Choose Edgecomb Gray for a large, airy organic modern space.
#7. Revere Pewter HC-172
A Benjamin Moore fan favorite, Revere Pewter is a failsafe neutral. This is a true greige, balanced between warm beige and cool gray, so it can work in any lighting and style room.
I use it liberally for walls and pair it with white, black, and pops of color — earthy tones for this season.
#8. Manchester Tan HC-81
Add brown to beige, and you get elegant Manchester Tan, one of Benjamin Moore’s most popular neutrals. This color is the epitome of quiet luxury, the color of that cashmere sweater you’ve been lusting after for years.
Snuggle up in a gently toned living room or create a sophisticated dining room with Manchester Tan as the anchor shade.
#9. Philadelphia Cream HC-30
Cream is a nostalgic shade, working beautifully in traditional and colonial interiors. I love Benjamin Moore’s bestselling version, Philadelphia Cream, especially in an airy kitchen.
The glorious peach undertones make this a particularly warm color and one that works well with pink and yellow. Sounds like cake to me.
#10. Smoke 2122-40
One of the joys of modern interior design is that many of the old rules don’t apply — and Smoke is an excellent example. This muted blue-green would never have counted as a neutral — until suddenly it did.
Use this gorgeous misty ocean shade to anchor a coastal grandma color palette, with plenty of unbleached linen and comfortable sofas. Or update your beige living room by painting the walls in lovely Smoke.
While we’re busy sneaking shades of blue into our neutrals list, I have to mention Hale Navy. And I’m in good company — Benjamin Moore lists this as one of their most popular neutrals.
Hale Navy is an intense, traditional maritime blue, putting me in mind of battleships and submarines, let alone dapper uniforms. It’s perfect for cozy bedrooms and peaceful home offices, and I’d also suggest it for your husband’s den.
#12. North Creek Brown 1001
I’ve made it my life’s mission to remind everyone that neutrals aren’t only light colors — there are dark and dramatic neutral shades as well. North Creek Brown is a gorgeous, earthy brown with black undertones.
It’s incredibly versatile, whether you want a cozy farmhouse living room with plenty of plaid and paneling, or a Victorian library, straight from an English country house.
#13. Soot 2129-20
Soot is a true black, meaning it doesn’t lean gray or navy under different lights. I urge you to try at least one accent wall in this color in a Scandi living room, with a bright yellow sofa and lots of blond wood.
Final Thoughts
With the largest range of paint colors of all the luxury paint creators, Benjamin Moore has a vast selection of neutral paint colors. I’ve chosen my 13 favorites, with a selection of whites, grays, beiges, and creams – and a couple of surprises, including dramatic darks.
