7 Simple Bedroom Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Whether you’re looking to tackle a deep clean or just maintain a tidy haven, these practical strategies will help you reclaim your bedroom as the peaceful retreat it’s meant to be.

#1. Declutter Daily

Instead of waiting until bedroom cleaning day to declutter your bedroom try this. Spend 5 to 10 minutes decluttering your bedroom on a daily basis.

Each morning, remove any papers, books, magazines, gadgets and other items. This will help keep your room neat and tidy between cleaning.

In the evening before bed, hang up any clothes you may have tried on and decided not to wear. That way they won’t lay around on a chair or stand.

Hang your bathrobe up before you go to bed and take out any drink glasses or snack dishes that you have used.

#2. Gather All the Necessary Cleaning Tools Prior to Cleaning

One of the things that makes cleaning hard is running back and forth for various tools and supplies.

You can save time and energy by gathering all the cleaning supplies before you start cleaning your bedroom. This will allow you to completely focus on the task at hand.

The tools you will need for cleaning your bedroom includes:

  • A vacuum with various attachments such as a floor tool, upholstery tool and more
  • A broom or long handled dusting tools to clean cobwebs from corners and near the ceiling
  • Dusting cloth or tool
  • Window cleaner and cloths
  • A mop and floor cleaner if needed

#3. Open Windows, Raise Blinds and Turn on Your Bedroom Lights

If the weather permits, open your windows. This will let fresh air in and remove any stale odors. It will make the entire room feel and smell fresher.

You will also want to raise your blinds to let in natural sunlight as well as turn on any lights in the room.

Doing these things will allow you to see all the nooks and crannies. It will also lighten your mood and make cleaning your bedroom a bit more enjoyable.

#4. Strip Your Bed and Put Your Bedding in the Wash

When you begin cleaning your bedroom the first thing you need to do is strip you bed and put your bedding in the wash. That way by the time you finish cleaning the room your bed will be ready to be remade.

Here is how often you should wash various items of bedding:

  • You should wash sheets and pillowcases at least once a week. Your body comes in direct contact with your sheets. So wash them more often to help remove sweat, dust mites and other bodily fluids.
  • Wash pillows at least once a week unless you use pillow protectors. If you use pillow protectors and wash them regularly then you need to only wash your pillows only three times a year.
  • Blankets need to be washed at least once a month.
  • Wash bedspreads, quilts, or duvets once a week since they are directly exposed to the dust in the air.

#5. Keep A Hamper in Your Room

To save time picking up dirty clothes off the furniture and floor keep a clothes hamper in your room. Put your dirty clothes in the hamper the minute you take them off. This will reduce the clutter in your bedroom and keep your room much neater between cleaning.

#6. Dust Those High Corners

Spiders love those high and dark corners as places to build their webs. So make sure you dust all the corners and small crevices of your room even if you don’t see the start of a web it could be there.

A duster on a long stick could be used to dust into tight places and around the moldings of the ceiling.

#7. Vacuum Away!

Use the correct attachments to want to vacuum various parts of your bedroom. These include the floor, the mattress, upholstery, the slats of your blinds, and drapes.

Even if you have a wood or tile floor vacuuming the floors can help. It removes dust and dirt from corners a broom can’t reach well.

Make sure you get all the dust bunnies from under the bed. Beds with solid frames that reach the floor removes the problem of dealing with that under the bed dust.
